PLATTE - A Platte man will serve five years of probation for breaking into a pharmacy, stealing prescription drugs and ingesting them.
Kristopher Keegel, 21, pleaded guilty in September to third-degree burglary and possession of a controlled substance.
He was arrested in February for smashing glass on the front door of Hoffman’s Pharmacy and stealing 12 bulk bottles of hydrocodone and one bulk bottle of tramadol. Bulk bottles usually contain 100 to 1,000 pills. Several containers were found empty in Keegel’s possession. A test found Keegel had ingested hydrocodone.
He was given a five-year suspended execution of sentence in October for the burglary charge and a threeyear suspended sentence for the possession charge.
Judge Bruce Anderson sentenced him to serve 65 days in jail, with 20 days’ credit for time served, and he approved work release.

Keegel must get a chemical dependency evaluation and follow through with recommendations.
He cannot consume alcohol or drugs.
He is required to be on the 24/7 Sobriety program and participate in moral recognition therapy.
He was ordered to pay $1,288 in restitution, $700 in fines, $908 in fees and repay his court-appointed attorney fees.
The judge also ordered Keegel to write a letter of apology to Hoffman’s Pharmacy.
