SIOUX FALLS (AP) -- A man accused of killing a woman on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
Fifty-four-year-old Lawrence Whipple, of Mission, was accused of stabbing Loretta Waugh to death on Feb. 7. He initially was indicted on a first-degree murder charge and pleaded not guilty.
U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Whipple could face life in prison when he is sentenced Sept. 10.
