A local man was arrested June 2 and charged with aggravated assault for his alleged involvement in the beating of another person outside a home in Mitchell.
Bernard Drapeau, 30, was arrested after witnesses told Mitchell police they saw Drapeau outside the residence at 415 E. Seventh Ave. kicking another person repeatedly in the head while two others held the victim down, court documents say. According to Mitchell Police Detective Lt. Don Everson, the other two people involved in the attack have not been identified, but the investigation is ongoing. The name of the victim has not been released.
The victim suffered a broken nose as well as several cuts and bruises on the head. Based on the investigation, Everson said it appears the people involved knew the victim and alcohol appears to be a factor.
Drapeau faces a maximum of 15 years in prison and $30,000 fine.
He has been released from jail on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court later this week.
