A man convicted in 2009 of having sexual contact with a child younger than 15 admitted Tuesday in Mitchell to violating multiple conditions of his probation.
Loren Gene Mead, 21, admitted to being convicted in January of failure to register as a sex offender and failure to provide notice of a change in address in Minnehaha County. Mead was on probation in Davison County in connection with an incident in 2009 in which he had sexual contact with child under the age of 15 at a motel in Mitchell.
He also admitted to a violation of the state 24/7 Sobriety program and missing an appointment with court services.
Mead could have a suspended seven year prison sentence partly or completely reimposed.
Mead has a history of probation violations. For his 2009 sexual contact conviction, he was granted a suspended imposition of sentence, which would have allowed him to avoid having to register as a sex offender, but it was revoked in April 2009 after his first violation. He violated his probation again after he was discharged from a Sioux Falls treatment facility for numerous rules violations.

He is scheduled to be sentenced in June.
