Man, 84, killed in a one-vehicle crash on I-90 near Kimball

KIMBALL — An 84-year-old man died Thursday, Oct. 22 in a one-vehicle crash west of Kimball.

According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at 8:50 a.m. on Thursday morning on Interstate 90 at mile marker 281, about 2 miles west of Kimball.

A 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup was eastbound on Interstate 90 when it went into the south ditch. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. He was later pronounced dead at the Chamberlain hospital.

The name of the deceased is not yet being released pending notification of family members. He was the only person involved.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
