PRESHO - The vehicle of a murder suspect was found in Lyman County Wednesday morning.
Lyman County Sheriff Steve Manger said Jared Stone's 1998 blue Chevrolet Lumina was found Wednesday morning at mile marker 226 on Interstate 90 near Presho. An arrest warrant for Stone, 21, has been issued in the shooting of 28-year-old Wagner resident Baptiste White Eyes, who was shot in the head outside a casino in Sioux Falls Friday evening. White Eyes later died at Sanford USD Medical Center.
Manger said a Lyman County Sheriff's Deputy found the abandoned vehicle, but it was not the first time the vehicle was checked.
Manger said a South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper did a welfare check Tuesday on a stranded motorist who said he was having car troubles. According to Manger, the male subject gave the trooper a false name.
At 10 p.m. Tuesday, a Lyman County deputy and a different highway patrolman received a call regarding a suspicious person along Highway 183, but the subject was not found.

Wednesday morning, a Lyman County deputy checked on the abandoned vehicle and determined it was the vehicle police believed to have been driven by Stone. Once the vehicle was connected to Stone, the Lyman County Sheriff's Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and the state's Department of Game, Fish and Parks did a search of farmland and buildings south of Presho, but they did not locate the subject.
Manger said Stone was not in custody, but he said Stone was no longer in Lyman County.
"People in Lyman County don't have to worry tonight, anyway," Manger said Wednesday.
Manger declined to reveal how he knew Stone was outside of the county.
On Wednesday evening, Manger said DCI and the FBI were in the midst of conducting a search warrant on the vehicle, but he was unaware of anything found in the search.
According to The Associated Press, police have not commented on the specific relationship between Stone and White Eyes, but they do not believe the shooting was a random act.
While Manger said Stone had not been found as of 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, a 26-year-old woman has been arrested in Le Mars, Iowa in connection with the homicide.
