A Lower Brule woman was sentenced for assault earlier this month.
Monica Quilt, 42, was convicted of assault by striking, beating and wounding. She was sentenced Nov. 14 by U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno.
She was sentenced to six months of imprisonment, one year of supervised release, and a $25 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Quilt was indicted by a federal grand jury in May. She pleaded guilty in September.
The conviction stems from an incident between May 8 and May 9 in which Quilt and the victim - who were involved in an intimate, dating relationship - had both been out drinking, but separately. During the morning hours of May 9, Quilt went to her home and the victim arrived later. A physical assault occurred between Quilt and the victim, which resulted in the victim suffering injuries to his neck and face that required medical treatment.

Quilt is to self-report to the U.S. Marshals Service on Dec. 12.
