MITCHELL — State officials closed Interstate 90 on Friday evening, which means print subscribers of the Mitchell Republic should expect delays for the Saturday, March 18 edition.

The newspaper is assembled in Mitchell and printed at a Sioux Falls printing press.

The South Dakota Department of Transportation closed Interstate 90 from Chamberlain to Sioux Falls at 6 p.m. Friday. It is unknown when it will reopen.

Officials also closed Interstate 29 from the North Dakota border to Sioux Falls.

Newspaper delivery will resume when the interstate is opened, the edition makes it back to Mitchell and carriers are able to complete their routes.

The E-edition will be available Saturday and any breaking news and all sports updates, including from the state high school basketball tournaments and the NCAA women's basketball tournament where SDSU is competing, are available on the mitchellrepublic.com website.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "Mitchell Republic." Often, the "Mitchell Republic" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
