Weather closing schools early

MITCHELL — Mitchell School District and John Paul II Elementary are dismissing at 1 p.m. Friday, March 31.

An impending March storm has started in Mitchell with rain, and snow is expected to begin later in the day.

The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a blizzard warning for Mitchell. Rain, sleet and snow are expected throughout Friday, with about 2 inches of snow accumulating, officials are forecasting. Winds are expected to gust as high as 55 mph.
