Due to the anticipated winter storm that’s predicted to hit Mitchell in the early morning hours on Wednesday, city officials say there will be no garbage collection on Thursday.

For residents who have their garbage collected by the city on Thursday, it will be picked up on Friday with Friday’s regularly scheduled routes, pending weather conditions.

Recycling collection will not be picked up on Thursday and Friday, as of now, according to city officials. Sanitation crews will collect recycling Monday, Feb. 27 through Friday, Mar. 3. City officials say the regular recycling collection schedule will begin Mar. 6.

The landfill is anticipated to be open Wednesday and closed on Thursday.
