LEMMON (AP) -- A 58-year-old Lemmon man was killed when a packer rolled and he was pinned as he worked along South Dakota Highway 73.

Kirby Chapman with the Perkins County Sheriff's Office says Steven Bootz was driving the packer Monday morning when it rolled into a ditch, pinning him. The media reports that Bootz died at the scene.

Bootz was employed by Zandstra Construction of Rapid City. The company has a contract to widen the shoulders on the highway between Faith and Meadow.

Darcy Torres with Zandstra tells The Associated Press that the death is a tragic accident. She says authorities are investigating what happened.
