LEAD (AP) - Residents of Lead have decided in a close vote to cut city funding for the town's only indoor recreation facility.
The Black Hills Pioneer reports that the vote Tuesday was 273-269 to cut city funding for the Handley Center.
Center Board President Ron Everett says 2014 funding has already been budgeted, so that gives the center a year to figure out what to do.
Mayor Jerry Apa says the vote does not mean that the city won't work to fund recreation, both indoors and outdoors.
