The current Golden Buffalo Casino on the Lower Brule Sioux Reservation is a small version of what the tribe hopes to build at Oacoma. It has a gaming floor, conference area, dance floor, restaurant and gift shop.
It also includes:
- 175 slot machines;
- Two game tables;
- A 38-room motel; and
- 50 employees.
The proposed casino will include a buffet, gift shop, conference center and dance floor. The new casino will also include:
- A travel plaza with lounges for truckers;
- 500 slot machines;
- 8 blackjack tables;
- Four poker tables;
- A 120-seat buffet;
- A snack bar for 15 to 20 people;
- A lounge/sports bar;
- A dance floor for 50 people;
- An entertainment floor/theater for 500 people, or 300 people for a catered event;
- A kids' arcade;
- A gift shop; and
- A coat check.
The proposed casino would employ 241 people with wages exceeding $7 million. The casino could generate an estimated 300,000 visitors to the Chamberlain/Oacoma area annually, backers claim.
