Drivers in Mitchell can expect to see lane closures along North Main Street in the next few weeks.

The center three lanes (the turn lane and inside lanes in each direction) on Main Street south of the intersection with the State Highway 37 bypass and Fairoaks Avenue will be closed starting Monday, Sept. 21.

The closure will allow for utility and road repairs. The center turn lane will be closed for about two weeks, according to the Mitchell Department of Public Works.

It will be closed for three blocks between West Fifth Avenue and West Eighth Avenue, starting at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 21. The city of Mitchell is doing water main installation work, which is expected to close the street for the next three weeks.

Chip sealing will also take place Sept. 21 and 22 on the following streets and roads:

  • National Guard Road from Highway 37 to North Harmon Drive.
  • Airport Road from National Guard Road to Hanger Road.
  • Hanger Road.
  • North Hanger Road.
  • North Ohlman Street from National Guard Road to Industrial Road.
