Representative-elect Joshua Klumb, R-Mount Vernon, has been appointed as Vice Chair for House Agricultural and National Resources Committee. Klumb had previously served the legislature for six years as committee secretary. When asked about this position as a freshman legislator Klumb said, "I had indicated my desire to be in a position to have the greatest impact on behalf of the agricultural interests in our district. Rep. Lee Qualm, R-Platte, the new Ag and Natural Resources committee chairman and Speaker of the House Dean Wink, R-Howes, discussed it. They both agreed that my previous experience would be a good fit to help run that committee."

In his capacity as vice-chair, Klumb will help plan the committee agendas and work closely with the Department of Agriculture, Game, Fish and Parks, and Environment and Natural Resources on the legislation that comes before the committee. In the absence of Qualm, Klumb will run the committee meeting.

Klumb was also appointed as a member of the House Education Committee. He states, "Education was a bit more of a surprise, but i'm looking forward to listening and learning. I believe a strong education is important and this committee oversees the most valuable of South Dakota's resources.

Klumb will serve on these committees for the next two years.
