Joyce Louise Hosterman, 92, of Scotland, died Saturday, Jan. 17. 2009, at Good Samaritan Society, Scotland.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church, Scotland, with the Rev. Kathy Kluis officiating. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Goglin Funeral Home, Scotland, with the family present from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
She was born on Jan. 14, 1917 at Plankinton to Joe and Elizabeth (Buedefeldt) John.
She graduated from Plankinton High School in 1935 and attended Dakota Wesleyan University, where she received a teaching degree.
She later taught first grade in Scotland.

On May 8, 1942, she married Randall Hosterman.
When he was discharged from the Army, they started in the restaurant business, owning and operating several cafés in Scotland over the years, ending with the Sportsman Café.
She was a member of Scotland United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She also was a lifetime member of the Scotland VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty Davis and husband Gordon, Wessington; five grandchildren, eight grandchildren, two sisters: Vera Gunther and husband Bill, Minneapolis; and Shirlee Phillips of Great Falls, Mont.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in June 1981, an infant son, John Randall; her parents and a brother-in-law, Clarence Phillips.
