SIOUX FALLS (AP) - Health officials have rated the incidence of flu cases in South Dakota as "sporadic."

Twelve new cases and four influenza-related hospitalizations were confirmed during the week ending Dec. 6.

Sporadic influenza activity was also reported in neighboring Wyoming, as well as California, Hawaii and the District of Columbia. Minnesota, in contrast, was labeled "widespread."

No influenza-related deaths have been reported in South Dakota as of Dec. 6.
