Harm Westerhuis, 83, Platte, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Christian Reformed Church, Platte. Burial will be in Edgerton Cemetery, rural Platte. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Platte Funeral Chapel, Platte, followed by a prayer service.
He was born on Sept. 29, 1925, on a farm south of Platte to Arend and Alice (De Boer) Westerhuis.
He graduated from Platte High School in 1943 and began farming.
On Nov. 15, 1969, he married Patricia Janda of Lake Andes.

They lived and farmed on the family farm south of Platte until 1993, when they purchased a home in Platte.
He was a lifetime member of Platte Christian Reformed Church.
He is survived by his wife, three children: Marc, Rolla, Mo.; Scott and wife Nicole; and Gena Westerhuis, all of Platte; six grandchildren, two sisters: Bertha Kuipers and husband Harm, Platte; and Clarice Little and husband David, Canon City, Colo.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael; an infant daughter, Angela; his parents and a nephew.
