FREEMAN - A Freeman woman crashed her vehicle Tuesday after she suffered a fatal heart attack, according to the Highway Patrol.

Bernice Cvrk, 87, was driving west on East Sixth Street around 2:30 p.m. when she had a heart attack. Her 1999 Chevy Malibu veered south off the road and into a parking lot, according to South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Grant Lubbers.

Cvrk’s vehicle struck a parked Ford F-150 pickup, causing minimal damage to both vehicles.

No one else was involved in the crash, Lubbers said.

Cvrk was transported to the Freeman Regional Hospital but died from the heart attack, according to the coroner, Lubbers said, and she suffered no injuries from the crash.
