FREEMAN -- A Freeman man was arrested in September on two felony charges, including aggravated assault.
Jerry Alkire was arrested on Sept. 14 by Freeman police. Court documents say "there was heavy bruising around the victim's throat where the suspect placed her in a choke hold. The suspect was actively yelling at and threatening other residents, the suspect fled from law enforcement after being placed under arrest."
No other information about the case was immediately available. Alkire will make his initial appearance on Oct. 5.
Aggravated assault is a Class 3 felony, punishable upon conviction by up to 15 years in prison and up to a $30,000 fine. He was also charged with escape, a Class 5 felony; and disorderly conduct, a Class 2 misdemeanor.
