PIERRE — The U.S. Attorney's office for South Dakota says Fort Thompson man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for sexual abuse of a minor.
Dawson Donner, 22, was indicted on Sept. 9. He pleaded not guilty to the indictment on Oct. 5 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno.
The indictment alleges that in February 2020 in Buffalo County on the Crow Creek Reservation, Donner knowingly engaged in and attempted to engage in sexual acts with two minor victims under the age of 16.
If convicted, the maximum penalty is up to 15 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine, along with five years and up to life of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.
Donner was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has not been set.
