CHAMBERLAIN -- A Fort Thompson man was arrested on May 31 after he allegedly sliced a pregnant woman in the arm with a piece of broken glass.

Tony St. John, 30, faces two counts of aggravated domestic assault.

According to court documents, St. John grabbed a woman by the arm, pulled her back toward him and sliced her arm with a piece of broken glass on May 30 in Chamberlain. The woman left the apartment complex and went to her uncle’s.

According to court documents, the next morning, St. John grabbed the victim by the hair and shirt and dragged her out the front door of her uncle’s apartment building. He caused the woman’s shirt to rip and began kicking her in the back and stomach on the sidewalk, causing her lacerated arm to bleed heavily. Officers arrived on scene, and St. John was obtained and transported to the Brule County jail. During a police interview, St. John denied the woman’s story about her injuries.

Aggravated domestic assault is a Class 3 felony, punishable upon conviction by up to 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
