LETCHER - After hours of searching, authorities found a 47-year-old Mitchell man dead near his parent's home late Friday afternoon near Letcher.
Officials began the search at approximately 10 a.m. Friday morning after he went missing from his parent's home around midnight, according to Sanborn County Sheriff Tom Fridley.
The 47-year-old's body was found by the search team in the trees near the rural Letcher residence, Fridley said. Along with the Sanborn County Sheriff's Office, the Letcher Fire Department and Mitchell Search and Rescue aided in the search for the man.
Fridley said the man "succumbed to the cold," but did not know how long he had been dead.
