Stickney firefighters battle barn blaze
AURORA CENTER — Firefighters were on scene for nearly two hours working on a portion of a barn that caught fire Monday.
Stickney Fire Chief Jeff Sauvage said firefighters received the call at about 2:10 p.m. and were on scene at the fire about one-quarter mile east of Aurora Center.
No one was injured and officials are unsure of a cause. But Sauvage said nearby power lines swaying in the wind may have been the culprit.
There was straw bales, but not machinery, in the building. The barn had two halves, and firefighters were able to save one-half of the structure.
Aurora Center is about 12 miles southwest of Stickney, or 41 miles southwest of Mitchell.
