Mitchell firefighters on Monday were on scene at 704. S. Edmunds St. for about 30 to 45 minutes knocking down a fire in an attic.

At approximately 4:40 p.m., officials with the Mitchell Department of Public Safety received a call reporting smoke coming out of the second floor of a residence.

Mitchell Assistant Fire Chief Marius Laursen said eight Mitchell Fire personnel were on scene. When they arrived, smoke was coming out of the south side of the building.

The fire appeared to be electrical in nature, Laursen said. Officials extinguished the flames and burned insulation in the home was hauled out.

There is an unknown amount of damage, and there were no injuries due to the fire.
