SIOUX FALLS (AP) - A South Dakota surgeon has been sued by the family of a teenager who claims that the doctor enabled his 30-year-old son to have an unlawful sexual relationship with the girl.

The Argus Leader reports the family of the 15-year-old girl has sued Aberdeen orthopedic surgeon Dr. Patrick Miller. The girl began baby-sitting Miller's two minor sons in 2014.

The lawsuit accuses Miller of letting his son, Lance, who is a registered sex offender, to be alone with the girl multiple times at home.

The lawsuit alleges Lance Miller committed statutory rape with the girl through April 2015. It claims the girl told Dr. Miller about the alleged sexual encounters, and he did not report them to authorities as he is required to do under state law.

Dr. Miller in a court filing denies all allegations against him. Lance Miller is currently serving time for a fourth-degree rape conviction.
