Everett Francis Lucas, 80, Platte, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at Platte Health Care Center, Platte.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Academy United Church of Christ, Academy, with the Rev. Dale Sallen officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Platte Funeral Home, Platte.
He was born on June 16, 1928, in Academy to Fred and Clara (Leiferman) Lucas.
He graduated from Platte High School in 1946.
He entered the Army in March 1951 and was stationed in Pusan, Korea, during the Korean War. He was discharged in March 1953.

He spent his entire life farming on the Lucas family farm.
On Jan. 18, 1955, he married Alice Fuchs.
He was an original member of the Academy Fire Department and a member of the American Legion Campbell-Timmerman Post No. 115.
He is survived by his wife, 10 children: Susan Cable and husband Bill, Winner; Richard and wife Donna; Donald and wife Mary Ann; Anita Schoenfelder, and Amy Burma and husband Preston, all of Platte; Kathy Bogenhagan and husband Don, Kimball; Lorraine Cable and husband John, Geddes; Patrick and wife Diana, Mitchell; Bruce and wife Dawn, Brookings; and Brian and wife Amy, Spearfish; 27 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two brothers: Lauren and wife Norma, Platte; and Leo and wife Janette, Green Valley, Ariz.; a sister, Evelyn Anderson and husband Wayne, Armour; and three sisters-in-law: Lillian Hall, Mary Weerheim and Carol Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Harold and Leonard; and four sisters: Irene Lucas, Iola Lucas, Florence Hinders and Wilma Novak.
