The Ethan Chapter of the National Honor Society held a banquet on Nov. 18 at Marlin’s in Mitchell. Students inducted into the National Honor Society were: Seniors: Blake Bartscher, Travis Huber, Alyssa Hettinger, Danika Pollreisz and Kala Nurnberg; Juniors: Morgan Tuttle, Beth Aulner, Jordan Grosdidier and Darbi Gustafson.
Their adviser is Gaylord Goehring who teaches math in Ethan.
The Region V Junior High Music Festival will be in Platte on Nov. 26. Students attending from Ethan are Ally Feiner, Callie Hohn, Patience Nesheim, Tabitha Sonne, Tia Schmidt, Katelyn Warren, Jocee McGuire, Jonathon Freeman and Dylan Chmela. They will be accompanied by Ethan music director Russ Garry.

The fifth annual Team Mathis Benefit will be on Nov. 29. A pork loin meal for a free-will donation begins at 6:30 p.m. Poker tournament and bingo are set to start at 8 p.m. Poker sign-ups end at 7:30 p.m. and have a $50 initial buy in. Prizes will be awarded to the top players. Bingo also begins at 8 p.m. and costs $5 per card and is good for the entire night. Lots of awesome prizes will be available.
There will be a silent auction throughout the night. Raffles are also available: $20 per chance for a Benelli Nova shotgun, and $5 per chance for a diamond necklace valued at $600. Drawings for these raffles will take place during the intermission of the poker tournament. We hope to see you all there. All proceeds from the benefit go toward the Mathis Scholarship fund awarded to the senior students of Ethan High School each year.
