Edward F. Warner, 77, Montrose, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Golden Living Center, Salem.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Salem United Church, Salem. Burial will be in Montrose Cemetery, Montrose. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Kinzley Funeral Home, Salem. Visitation will resume at 6 p.m. Friday at the church with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

He was born on April 4, 1931, on a farm near Montrose to Edward Q. and May F. (Ash) Warner.

He grew up in the Montrose area and graduate as salutatorian from Montrose High School in 1949.

He attended South Dakota State University, Brookings, for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he spent two years.

In October 1957, he married Rose Swenson.

He lived his entire life on the family farm.

He also worked for 29 years at Feterl Manufacturing in Salem, retiring in 2001.

He was township treasurer from 1958 to 2009.

He was a former member of Montrose United Methodist Church, where he was on the church council, served as a lay minister and was a member of the men's club. He was a current member of Salem United Church.

He was also a former member of Montrose Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, his children: Charles and wife Lisa, Nerstrand, Minn.; Mary Bungert and husband John, Northfield, Minn.; Gloria Christianson and husband Eric, Cincinnati; Nancy Rovlewski and husband Craig, Vancouver, Wash.; and Paul and wife Lisa, Wentworth; seven grandchildren and a stepgrandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
