The Mitchell High School Speech and Debate team brought home a number of accolades from a pair of recent tournaments.

The team placed three members at the Rapid City Penguin Classic, which was held in a virtual format Jan. 8 and 9.

  • Jaclyn McMillen took second place in Program Oral Interpretation

  • Natalie McCloud took third place in Program Oral Interpretation

  • Liam Semmler took fourth place in Varsity Original Oratory

The team also placed nine members at the Central Forensics Conference Tournament recently.

  • Shawn Boehmer took first place in Novice Extemporaneous

  • Iris Anderson took first place in Informative Speaking

  • Liam Semmler took first place in Varsity Original Oratory

  • Kennedy Lofgren took second place in Informative Speaking
