Mitchell High School faculty and staff will be collecting laptops and textbooks from students Tuesday as the 2019-20 school year comes to a close.
The pickup will take place in the south parking lot at Mitchell High School. Students are asked to write their first and last names on a piece of tape or sticky note and place it on their laptop and charger. Parents or the student may enter from Capital Street, and from their vehicle they can hand in all textbooks, laptops and chargers to a school employee.
A schedule based on student last names will be followed. Students with last names beginning with the letters A through F may drop off materials from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., students with last names beginning with G through L may drop off materials from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Last names from M through P should come through from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., and last names from R through Z should come through from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The day will also serve as the last collection day for school work.
More information on returning school materials and other year-end business can be found at the Mitchell High School website www.mhs.themitchellkernels.com.
The free summer meals program will also return beginning May 26 and run through July 31. It will return to its normal meals distribution at only the five schools in town — Mitchell High School, Mitchell Middle School, Longfellow Elementary, Gertie Belle Rogers Elementary and L.B. Williams Elementary.
Both breakfast and lunch may be picked up at any time between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. and will be served “grab and go” only, with no dining in the buildings.
