The Mitchell Board of Education will consider the purchase of a lot for the 2019-20 MTI site house at its next regular meeting.

The meeting, the first of two scheduled in August, will take place in Room 10 at the Mitchell Career and Technical Education Academy on Monday. The meeting is set to begin at 5 p.m.

The lot is described as Lot 6 in Tract H of the Wild Oak Golf Club Addition to the city of Mitchell. The district would make the purchase from Firesteel Links L.L.C. for $36,887.75, which is the same price the district paid for the MTI site house lot last year. The price includes $36,500 for the lot and $387.75 for expenses.

Instead of building the entire house on site this year, the house built in the shop during the 2018-19 school year will be moved to the new lot with second-year students completing it. As in the past two years, the house is expected to be declared surplus in January and sold via sealed bids in February or March.

The board is also expected to consider the purchase of a compact fiber laser metal cutter for the welding and manufacturing technology program at MTI. The only bid the district received, for $66,000 from BesCutter Company out of LeHigh Acres, Florida, meets district specifications for the bid.

The meeting is open to the public.
