Wagner's Foos honored with national award
WAGNER — Wagner Superintendent Linda Foos is being recognized nationally.
Foos has been awarded the National Educational Leadership Award from Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG), which aims to help students succeed in school and in pursuit of a career or postsecondary education. She was nominated for her "extraordinary leadership and support of JAG-South Dakota.
"It's wonderful to see Superintendent Foos receive this prestigious recognition," said Mary Stadick Smith, interim secretary of education, in a press release. "Thanks to Linda's leadership, Wagner students have been empowered for lifelong success through the JAG-SD program."
JAG is a state-based national nonprofit that works to improve graduation rates and academic achievement.
The Wagner Community School District was the first in South Dakota to have a JAG program. It has been in place in the district since 2009.
Foos will be honored at the JAG Special Recognition Reception on Nov. 14 in Washington, D.C.
