With just under three weeks of summer vacation left, Mitchell High School has announced dates for back-to-school preparation.

The first day of school for the district will be on Tuesday, Aug. 20, but MHS will have its Back to School Day next Wednesday. Students can pick up their class schedules and laptops from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m.

Prior to getting their schedules and laptops, MHS students must submit the annual information update and student information forms available in Parent Portal via Infinite Campus. Those who have not received an information packet in the mail can call the MHS office at 605-995-3034.

Student pictures will also be taken on Aug. 7. Students who are unable to attend registration can have a make-up picture taken on Sept. 12.

Lockers will be assigned to any students who do not already have one, including freshmen, with a $5 locker key deposit. Students are charged $10 for replacement keys.

Activity passes for K-12 students can be purchased at Back to School Day for $40. All checks are to be made payable to Mitchell School District, and the school has requested that separate checks be written for activity passes and lunch account payments. Credit and debit card payments will not be accepted.

At 7 p.m. on Aug. 7, an orientation for freshmen, new students and their parents will be held in the MHS Performing Arts Center. A fall activities meeting will be held on Aug. 8 at the same time and location.
