The Mitchell Board of Education will elect officers and hold a public hearing on the 2019-20 budget for the Mitchell School District, including Mitchell Technical Institute, at its Tuesday meeting.
The meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Room 10 at the Mitchell Career & Technical Education Academy. The meeting was rescheduled from July 8 to today due to the July 4 holiday week and schedule conflicts. Mitchell Board of Education meetings usually take place on the second Monday of the month during the school year, and alternates between meeting on the second Monday and on the second and fourth Mondays every other month during the summer.
The meetings are expected to return to their regular schedule in August, when meetings are scheduled for Aug. 12 at MCTEA and Aug. 26 at Mitchell High School. Both meetings are open to the public and are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
The board is expected to nominate and elect a president and vice-president of the board at tonight’s meeting before adjourning and reconvening with new officers for further business. Deb Olson currently serves as the president of the board and Neil Putnam serves as vice-president.
The budget hearing is expected to follow items on the consent agenda of the first half of the meeting. The consent agenda includes the designation of The Daily Republic as the official district publication, the proposed enrollment of membership in the Mitchell Chamber of Commerce and other yearly business items.

Approval of a resolution to designate all official repositories.
Approval of a resolution for the 2019-20 K-14 budgets.
Approval of a bid for Food Service Program Dairy Purchases.

Approval of bids for robotics/technology equipment.
Board member commentary, the superintendent report and public commentary.
The meeting is open to the public.
