Drowning victim listed Mitchell as hometown

MADISON (AP) -- Madison police have identified a 29-year-old man who drowned near Memorial Creek in Madison Douglas "PJ" Bean, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., was attempting to wade across the creek's flood waters.

MADISON (AP) -- Madison police have identified a 29-year-old man who drowned near Memorial Creek in Madison Douglas "PJ" Bean, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., was attempting to wade across the creek's flood waters.

Bean's Facebook page lists Mitchell as his hometown. Bean was last seen at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday. His body was found Sunday afternoon by residents checking their property for damage after flash flooding caused by heavy rain Saturday night. An autopsy is being conducted. Bean was a firefighter and paramedic in Tuscaloosa. He was in Madison visiting family.
