Donald Robert McKee, 89, Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Mitchell, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Lee Memorial Health System, Fort Myers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bittner Funeral Chapel, Mitchell. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Mitchell, with military graveside services.
He was born on Dec. 19, 1919, at Lincoln, Neb., to Herman and Winifred (Groff) McKee.
He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1938 and Dakota Wesleyan University, Mitchell, in 1942.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He was with the amphibious forces in the European Theater and with the mine sweeping forces in the Pacific Theater.

He retired as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
For 30 years, he was employed by the General Board of Pensions of the United Methodist Church, Chicago, until his retirement in 1981.
Since 1982, he had been a resident of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Keith and Ronald.
