PLATTE — Authorities have identified the human remains found in rural Charles Mix County earlier this month and are seeking more information on who might have seen the deceased man before he died.

The remains of Ryan Pyle, 37, were found on Nov. 2 on public hunting ground in Charles Mix County. Pyle was discovered by hunters about 12 miles west of Platte on the south side of State Highway 44. According to authorities, an extensive search of the area was conducted and additional skeletal remains were located. Pyle was identified through dental records.

The South Dakota Fusion Center said Pyle had been reported as a missing person on Sept. 23 and was last seen in Minnesota on Aug. 7.

On Aug. 26, the Gregory County Sheriff's Office reported that Pyle's vehicle was abandoned on a gravel road. He was driving a 2008 grey Toyota Camry with North Dakota license plates 584ASJ.

Pyle was described as a 6-foot tall, 235-pound white male. He may have had a small white dog with him and was known to carry a guitar and an orange colored backpack.

Individuals who might have seen Pyle after Aug. 7 are asked to contact the Charles Mix County Sheriff's Office at 605-487-7625.

The information on Tuesday regarding Pyle came from the South Dakota Fusion Center, which is a joint operation under the South Dakota Department of Public Safety to disseminate criminal intelligence to various law enforcement agencies. Those agencies included the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and the Charles Mix County Sheriff's Office.
