Mitchell Parks and Recreation Department will conduct a Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course from Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 27-29, at Mitchell Middle School.
The course consists of 27 hours of training, including CPR for the professional rescuer, lifeguarding skills and First Aid.
Participants must be 15 by the first day of the class and must pass the swimming pre-test given the first day. The test includes swimming 300 meters continuously, using the free style and breast stroke, and be able to retrieve a diving brick from deep water and swim with it for 20 yards.
The fee for the course is $150 and registration is due at the Mitchell Parks and Recreation Department by Tuesday, Dec. 18. Registration forms are available at the Mitchell Parks and Recreation Department or downloaded from www.mitchellparksandrecreation.com , or by calling 995-8450.
