David Goudy, 62, Lennox, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at his home, after a four-year battle with leukemia.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First English Lutheran Church, Lennox. Visitation will begin at noon Friday at Dindot-Klusmann Funeral Home, Lennox.

He was born on Dec. 26, 1946, to Frank and Lucille (Steichen) Goudy.

He attended various country schools and Alpena Public Schools.

He graduated from Lane High School and received a bachelor of science degree from University of South Dakota, Vermillion.

He worked for a national CPA firm in Denver before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he served from 1969 until 1973. He spent 26 months in Vietnam, serving first on an LST, the USS Pitkin County and then on the Navy destroyer, USS Henry B. Wilson.

Following his discharge, he worked for his uncle for two years in Forestburg as a blacksmith and mechanic.

In 1975, he moved to Sioux Falls, received his CPA certificate in 1976, and worked for a local CPA firm until 1989, when he opened his own firm, which he operated until his health forced him to quit.

On Sept. 11, 1982, she married Carolyn Peterson.

In 1991, they adopted a daughter.

He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Samantha; a sister, Jane Salathe and husband Jake, Huron; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George, who died in infancy.

All undesignated memorials will be sent to The Adam Petty Victory Junction Gang Camp for kids with leukemia.
