A Mitchell man was arrested May 12 for allegedly strangling a woman during an argument.
Justin Waugh, 37, is charged with one count of aggravated assault, a Class 3 felony.
At 5:05 p.m. on May 12, officers responded to an East Second Avenue apartment for a report of a man and woman fighting. According to court documents, the woman said she and Waugh had gotten into an argument and Waugh had strangled her for an indeterminate length of time, causing her to be unable to breathe.
The woman also reportedly said Waugh had choked her a second time later that night and that she fought against him. Court documents indicate there was damage in the room where the struggle allegedly occurred and that both the woman and Waugh had injuries consistent with the woman's version of events.
