TYNDALL — A Scotland man charged with grabbing a girl by the throat and throwing her across a room in December was convicted March 17 of marijuana possession and will not serve jail time.
Kellen Scribner, 36, pleaded guilty to possession of two ounces or less of marijuana, a Class 1 misdemeanor, and a charge of aggravated assault was dismissed.
Scribner was arrested Dec. 19 after a 13-year-old boy reported to a Bon Homme County deputy he had witnessed Scribner throwing a 9-year-old girl by the throat the previous day.
According to court documents, a small amount of marijuana was found in Scribner's house when a search warrant was executed, and Scribner tested positive for marijuana at the Bon Homme County Jail.
Scribner was sentenced to 11 days in jail with 10 days suspended and credit for one day served.
