A Mitchell man has been charged with choking a woman during an argument.
Joshua Abdo Sr., 43, faces one count of aggravated assault, a Class 3 felony.
On March 15, according to a police affidavit, Mitchell police were called to a residence by a woman who said Abdo had choked her. When officers arrived, they could reportedly hear arguing inside, but no one answered the door.
After multiple requests to be let inside, officers forced entry to the apartment, and Abdo was handcuffed and taken to a patrol vehicle.
Abdo reportedly said he and the woman had been arguing but denied there had been a physical altercation. The woman, who reportedly had redness around her throat but did not require medical treatment, said Abdo had grabbed her by the neck and pushed her against a wall, then caused her to gasp for air by pressing on her throat with his hand, blocking her airway.
