A Mitchell man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly causing facial fractures and other injuries to another man by hitting him multiple times.
Alexander Bearrobe-Hofwolt, 26, was charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of obstructing law enforcement, the Mitchell Department of Public Safety said Friday.
At 11:25 p.m., Mitchell police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of West 11th Avenue, where a 58-year-old man was found unconscious in the front yard, authorities said Friday afternoon. Bearrobe-Hofwolt allegedly ran from a responding officer.
The injured man was taken to Avera Queen of Peace and later airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital. He was reported to be in stable condition as of Friday afternoon, authorities said.
Bearrobe-Hofwolt, who reportedly knew the other man and had been involved in an argument with him before the alleged assault, was found and arrested at 1:43 a.m. in a parking lot in the 500 block of South Sanborn Boulevard.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. If convicted of both charges, Bearrobe-Hofwolt could be incarcerated for up to 16 years.
