SCOTLAND-Two people sustained minor injuries Wednesday afternoon in a crash two miles north of Scotland that left both vehicles involved totaled.
Shortly before 4 p.m., Richard Meyer, 77, was turning left into his driveway near the intersection of State Highway 25 and 290th Street when a collision occurred between his GMC Sierra and a Volkswagen loaner car, according to the Hutchinson County Sheriff's Office.
The front and side airbags deployed in the Volkswagen, and the female driver and one of the children sustained minor injuries. All four people in that vehicle, all of whom are from Yankton, were transported to the hospital in Scotland.
Meyer was uninjured, and everyone involved was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Meyer, who reportedly said he did not see the other vehicle approaching, is charged with failing to yield to an oncoming vehicle while making a left turn, a Class 2 misdemeanor.
