Reliance man sentenced for assault
A Reliance man has been sentenced to three years probation for assault.
On Monday, Roger Bishop, 27, pleaded guilty to and was sentenced for assault by striking, beating and wounding in federal district court, U.S. Attorney Ron Parsons said.
Bishop was indicted for the charge on Sept. 11 in connection with an incident that occurred on April 14, 2018. On that date, Bishop and the victim got into an argument, and he threw her to the ground, spraining her wrist.
In addition to probation, Bishop was ordered to pay $25 as a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs' Lower Brule Agency investigated the case.
