A Mitchell woman was arrested last week for allegedly biting a baby when he wouldn't go to sleep.

Jasmine Rathsack, 20, reportedly woke up early on March 4 to find her 7-month-old crying. According to court documents, a "tired and frustrated Rathsack" wanted herself and the baby to go back to sleep, so she "placed her mouth on the child's forearm and bit down hard."

In addition to a circular bruise left from the bite, the baby was allegedly found to have a circular bruise near his left cheekbone.

Rathsack reportedly admitted to causing both injuries but did not specify to police how the latter occurred, other than that it happened on March 3 while she was holding the baby.

Rathsack is charged with one count of abuse or cruelty to a minor less than 7 years old, a Class 3 felony. If convicted, she could spend up to 15 years in prison.
