Woman convicted of manslaughter released on parole

PIERRE—A Rosebud woman convicted in 2010 of stabbing her boyfriend to death in Lake Andes was released on parole Monday.

The Board of Pardons and Paroles approved parole for Jennifer Ladd, 46, at its Feb. 14 meeting.

Ladd served nine years in the South Dakota Women's Prison for the death of 43-year-old Louis Fast Horse. Ladd stabbed Fast Horse with a knife in February 2009 while at a cousin's house in Lake Andes.

She was sentenced in May 2010 to a 60-year prison sentence with 40 years suspended for first-degree manslaughter, which she was convicted of by a jury in March 2010.

According to a Department of Corrections database, Ladd's parole term expires on June 15, 2067.
