Police: South Dakota man who fell off hood of car after fight with girlfriend dies from injuries

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - A Sioux Falls man who jumped on the hood of his girlfriend’s car after an argument over the weekend and hit his head after falling off the vehicle has died.

The 46-year-old man’s name will not be released, as his family has invoked Marsy’s Law which provides protections to victims of crime.

The girlfriend, however, has been arrested in the case. She is Jayme Kae Knudson, 43.

According to police, about 9 p.m. on Saturday a woman found an unconscious man along a street in east-central Sioux Falls. The man was taken to the hospital and found to have a serious brain bleed, said police.

He died from his head injury about 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 10.

Police said the man fell off the vehicle when Knudson turned a corner and hit his head on the ground.

She then drove away, police said.

Knudson has been charged with aggravated assault and felony hit and run.  However, police spokesman Sam Clemens said Monday that the state’s attorney could amend the charges.
