SIOUX FALLS -- A man serving a life sentence for a 1988 murder died Tuesday in a Sioux Falls hospital.
Ronald Corder, 55, died as a result of a health condition, the South Dakota Department of Corrections reported Wednesday.
Corder was one of two men sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Clifford Hirocke. Hirocke was found by two hunters on Dec. 4, 1988, three miles south of Vermillion. He had been bludgeoned to death.
A Clay County jury found Corder guilty of premeditated first-degree murder on May 2, 1989, and he was sentenced to life in prison a week later. Harvey Ernst was also sentenced to life in prison later that year for his part in the murder.
